A Bit about Me
Hi
Im Rachel Fuller. Having been brought up in a house surrounded by music, and since beginning to learn an instrument at the age of 7, music has always been a very big and important part of my life.
At school I learnt to play violin for which I passed Grade 8 with Distinction and viola which I passed Grade 8 with Merit. I also studied music at A Level. I was fortunate to play and become leader in Cannock Music Centre Symphony Orchestra and to gain a place in the Staffordshire County Youth Orchestra.
I have been a prizewinner in several
competitive music festivals, and also sang in the school choir and took part in many
musical events at school and in the wider community.
I have regularly played viola in
Staffordshire Chamber Orchestra for more than 20 years and play either of my two
instruments in string quartets from time to time. I
play folk fiddle in the Log Cabin Barn Dance Band and sometimes with other bands as a
guest player.
For two years I was the Music with Mummy agent for Stafford and the surrounding area. This gave me the opportunity to introduce babies, toddlers and their carers to the wonderful world of music by rhythm through movement and early singing skills using the medium of fun music. As the parent of two young children I have also had first hand experience of the joys that music brings at such a young age
Many of my friends are still very much the same crowd of musicians I grew up with or studied under and all in all I know the immense benefits of music as a pastime, pleasure and escape from the stresses of today's lifestyle.
